Is it a blog or so? I can not even > add article to it? "What's new" is part of a template/environment. To work this out properly and reliable you can do the following: Go to the blog page where you can see the "What's new". Then press the "Settings" command link. There is an entry for environment. Either there is a path indicating which template it uses or it is empty which means the environment is inherited from the parent page. So you need to check the settings all the path up to the root until you find an entry in the environment settings. If you've found one then navigate to the path and press "Edit". Et voil? you can should see the "What's new" somewhere in the template. hope this helps, Norbert From hilaire.fernandes at gmail.com Mon Jan 3 13:20:48 2011 From: hilaire.fernandes at gmail.com (Hilaire Fernandes) Date: Mon, 03 Jan 2011 13:20:48 +0100 Subject: A few questions In-Reply-To: <2A30B456-8C42-4584-8288-B14C055FE199@hartl.name> References: <4D21AED0.4070408@gmail.com> <2A30B456-8C42-4584-8288-B14C055FE199@hartl.name> Message-ID: <4D21BF20.9020704@gmail.com> Le 03/01/2011 12:23, Norbert Hartl a ?crit : > In newer pier installations the environments are below /system/templates Thanks It should be documented to avoid frustration. So the answer is: You can add someting to the postticker if you add something to your blog. If you are not able to add something to your blog than the most prominent failure could be that you didn't add a publication date in your post. In the pier blog module posts are only visible if they have a publication date. So just go to a post press "Edit", press the button besides the publication date field and press "Save". If it still seem to not working you can renew your seaside session and have a second look. I think newbie information is rare. There are a lot of things doable with default pier. These things depend often on the difference between linking, embedding and the available parameters. That is only usage. The more you work with pier the more you want to extend it. Information about the class hierarchies is not really there. E.g. how to embed a widget programmatically in a page. Hi Alexandre, AFAIK, Yes. In the default distributions "/environment " has been replaced by "/system/templates/". However, in my distributions (that do not necessarily match 100% with the default ones), the menu is at /system/menu/. The Dispatcher list doesn't include pier. localhost:8008/pier doesn't work. Neither does localhost:8008/seaside/pier. I tried PRDistribution register. I got an MNU error. I tried the above on a new One-Click Pharo 1.1.1 with freshly loaded Production Seaside3.0, Magritte2.0 and Pier2.0. Still no joy. With the base Pier you can register a dispatcher with: PRPierFrame registerAsApplication: 'pier' kernel: (PRKernel named: 'kernel'). If you want to download the addons try: Gofer new squeaksource: 'MetacelloRepository'; package: 'ConfigurationOfPierAddOns2'; load. (Smalltalk at: #ConfigurationOfPierAddOns2) project latestVersion load: 'ALL'. you can then register a dispatcher with: PRDistribution register. I think a lot of cleanup would be needed for it to be any kind of template. You did a nice job. If you want to take a look at how to create a template that can be shipped with the distribution, please take a look at PRDistribution and subclasses. It's true that contents is empty on the main page, but if I want to login, I have to scroll all the way down to see the dialog. If you position the contents on top, then you will see the dialog on top. Ah. I understand. Also when editing the site I wouldn't have to scroll down to see the components list and such. If you want to take a look at how to create a template that can be shipped with the distribution, please take a look at PRDistribution and subclasses. I will do that. I would like to help improve and promote the use of Smalltalk, Pharo, and Pier if I can.
